The environmental impact on the world has improved since solutions from green technology is improving our way of generating heat and energy. We are now using solar energy to replace some wood burning. Wind and water energy is being used to make electricity, thus decreasing the demands for coal or fossil fuels.
Environmental Impact on Our Health and Surroundings
With the increasing issue of health problems, green technology is helping to reverse this negative environmental impact as well. Citizens of countries with less development of green technology still suffer with a greater negative environmental impact on their health and and work environment.
Many other areas have suffered an environmental impact from the greenhouse effect. Our glaciers are melting, we’ve got global warming, the groundwater suffers contamination, and we have soil depletion, as well as many other negative effects from this impact.
Environmental Impact has Greenland Ice Sheet Melting at Record Rate
Greenland has experienced the largest melt-region since records began in 1979. This melting has been steadily increasing every year since 1979. This melting started earlier and ended later in 2010. Lack of enough snowfall left too much ice exposed for too long following a record breaking warm spring and summer. The meltdown in 2010 was approximately the size of France.
Since Greenland’s ice sheet makes up one-twentieth of the world’s ice, the rising sea levels from this melting ice, is one way the negative environmental impact is effecting our world. A complete melt-down would raise these levels about 21 feet. This melt-region is equivalent to the size of Washington state every ten years.
Studying of the environmental impact of lakes on this glacial area, of dust and soot deposited over the area and how the surface water affects the ocean by the change in the flow of the ice are continuing.
